We
strongly recommend Health Insurance for pets. We believe it gives you peace
of mind, and allows us to do the very best for your pets regardless of the
costs involved. Modern investigations and treatments can do wonders but can
be expensive. Some recent examples of animals we have treated are: *A
dog with a skin allergy causing recurring ear infections; Insurance paid:
£970 * Removal of a tumour and follow up treatment; Insurance paid: £778 * A
cat with chronic cystitis and bladder stones; Insurance paid: £2122 A few
good things about insurance: *
Cover for each illness or accident ranges from £2000 to £6000, depending on
the premium. *
There can be lots of other benefits - eg help with emergency boarding,
finding lost pets, theft etc. * Many companies now will process claims within
48 hours *
Third Party insurance is essential for all dogs - if your dog runs across the
road and causes an accident, you are liable to pay for any damage to vehicles
and also compensation for injury to driver or passengers. *
Many companies will offer a discount for microchipped pets. We are currently
offering 2 months free insurance through PETPLAN for microchipped pets -
please ask for details. * Premiums can be paid monthly or annually *
Cost varies from £60 -£100 per year for cats and £100 - £180 per year for
dogs depending on how much cover you want, the excess you choose to pay and
the type of dog or cat. Please
note * Vaccinations, spaying, castration and
other routine treatments are not covered. * There is always an excess to pay for each
claim. * Many cheaper policies will only cover your pet for 12 months for
each medical condition, whereas many problems can be lifelong. PETPLAN
policies will insure your pet for life. * In
general, you cannot start insuring a older pet (8 years plus), but once your
pet is insured this can continue for life. * It's too late once your pet is ill! Click
